The Nile Luncheon 2009 will take place as usual at the Rutland Arms Hotel in Bakewell on Saturday 25 July 2009, commencing with coffee at 10.00 am. Early booking is recommended as the list will have to be closed when the figure of 70 has been reached.
The Guest Speaker will be Mr David CORDINGLY, who will speak on the subject of "Cochrane and the Battle of Basque Roads", to mark the 200th Anniversary of the action in April this year. David will be known to many members as a leading Naval Historian, who held the position of Keeper of Pictures and Head of Exhibitions at the National Maritime Museum for 12 years and is a successful author.
On Friday evening 24 July, commencing at 7.00pm. in the Emerald Room at the Rutland Hotel, we have organised an informal reception for members to get-together and meet our speaker over drinks and canapés. Members wishing to attend the Luncheon should forward a cheque, payable to "The Nelson Society", for £26 per person plus a further £7.00 per person for those wishing to attend the Friday evening reception, to Alan York, OBE, at 8 Rushley Avenue, Dore, Sheffield, S17 3EP, telephone: 0114 2621902
